Aeterna Roma is an alternative universe version of the Roman Empire. Despite this, the game is endeavours to have some historical accuracy as well. The game is set in 56AD and Rome is currently under the rule of the Emperor Claudius Sabucius Augustus Caesar, though who knows for how much longer. AR has boards where you may play out characters who live within the provinces, whether they be romans or Peregrini (free born people under roman rule).

The Rule Scroll

General Conduct

  • Respect others. Be polite to each other out of character and do not carry any In-Character hostilities or frustrations out of character.
  • Aeterna Roma is not a historically accurate website; consider us to be somewhat of an alternate universe to Ancient Rome. However, we do try to have realistic characters and plots, so if your Roman history is completely hazy, read up on the Info board or feel free to ask a member of the staff a question.
  • This game is based for mature-minded players. Content may vary, including violence, sex, and swearing. This is your warning.
  • Questions and suggstions are more than welcome XD
  • Only ONE character per account, please.
  • Please don't randomly change accounts/bios. It causes problems and confusion. If you do want to, you should ask Gothic before doing anything. e.g. All Bob posts should be done on Bob's account not Todd.


Joining

  • Fill out an application and wait for it to be approved by a member of the staff before beginning to roleplay. PLEASE be patient when waiting.
  • Sometimes staff members may ask you to change something in their application; we ask that you respect the staff when they make these suggestions.
  • Once you have been accepted, your profile will be moved to the proper board and your member group will be changed.
  • Please, make your characters realistic. No one is perfect, and not everyone is a sob story.
  • If you find a problem in someone's bio please PM a staff member and explain to them your concerns. Let the staff member take care of it.
  • You are welcome to adopt a canon - please remember to stay true to what is written about the character. If you are inactive for a period of time then the canon may be removed from you.


Role Playing

  • Quality over quantity. There is no post limit, though please realize that it is generally hard to work with some that is less than one hundred words. And please try to use correct English when posting.
  • If your thread has mature content (sex or violence, or both), please put an X in the title.
  • No power playing. And no godmoding unless you have the other player's permission.
  • Killing a player character may only be approved with the consent of the player and/or an admin.
  • Ask before you join a thread with two people via PM before you join in. If it's an open thread and it's only one page in ask as well. Remember open, literally means open. ;)


Profiles

  • You are allowed to use avatars and pictures in your profiles, but nothing that stretches the page please.
  • Warnings will be given for poor posts, poor behavior, altering your own karma levels, being rude to other players, ignoring staff recommendations, and breaking any other rules.
  • The staff reserves the right to ban or delete accounts from this forum in excessive circumstances.


Character development

  • In order for your character to advance via the military they will need to be promoted via the Senate or the Emperor of Rome. If you don't want to go through that method than PM Gothic to ask permission to do so.
  • Remember that not all slaves can be freed - they can be adopted by the family but this is a rare occurance.
  • Please keep your development to be realistic for the time period.


These rules may be amended at any time by the staff. When they are, all players will be notified.
